Susie’s interest in fiber art began at a young age with macramé and various weaving endeavors. Soon
after high school, she decided to focus on this particular craft as a basis for her BFA degree.  Susie first
attended the Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Colorado to specifically study Navajo traditional weaving
techniques. After one inspiring year, she then moved to Flagstaff to continue her studies at Northern
Arizona University to acquire a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She was fortunate to make the
acquaintance of an instructor Mary Pendelton, whom Susie credits, for her enthusiasm and success as a
weaver. She studied under her tutorship for two years and then continued her mentorship in Sedona,
Arizona in a shop that she directed.

Susie worked in this shop in Tlaquepaque for four years before returning to Santa Fe so that she could
be closer to her mother, Maggy Ryan, a well known fiber artist in Northern New Mexico. Together with her
mother, Susie expanded her client base across the Southwest. Susie’s work was represented in many
galleries from Arizona to northern New Mexico.

Susie now resides in the beautiful community of El Dorado of Santa Fe and is proud to be a part of a
very exciting project, Two Pears Gallery.  Custom work is a specialty of Susie’s so do not hesitate to
inquire as to how she can assist you in your special needs.  You can reach Susie through the Two Pears
Gallery or call her at her home studio at 505/466-7569.
